THE LITANY OF THE PEAKS [F]

In church music, litany is the dialog between the preacher and the congregation. Indeed, dialogue is what characterizes The Litany of the Peaks. In the unusual jazz instrumentation of violin, clarinet and cello, the trio weaves musical arcs and explores harmonic contemplations. Influences from new music are skillfully interwoven with French folklore in particular. The instruments constantly change roles, improvisations follow grooves and the recurring melody always brings everything together into a harmonious whole. An explosion, an intimate confusion that meets general clarity, powerful, lively statements meet melodic delicacy.
